Neurofeedback is used to regulate central nervous system-related problems or “dysregulation.” It is commonly employed for a variety of conditions, including ADD, ADHD, depression, anxiety, attachment disorder, autism, panic attacks, peak performance, traumatic brain injury or concussions, seizures, and sleep problems. In BrainCore Therapy neurofeedback sessions, specific brain areas are often trained differently to address the various issues associated with each condition.
BrainCore Therapy neurofeedback improves brainwaves by providing real-time feedback to the brain, allowing individuals to learn how to regulate and optimize their brainwave patterns. During a BrainCore Therapy session, sensors on the scalp measure brainwave activity, which is then displayed on a computer screen. Through visual and auditory feedback, individuals are guided to modify their brainwave patterns towards more balanced and regulated states.
Individuals engage in specific training protocols and receive feedback when their brain produces desired patterns of brainwave activity. This feedback is a form of reinforcement, encouraging the brain to produce more optimal patterns over time. The brain learns to self-regulate through repeated sessions, leading to lasting improvements in brainwave function.
BrainCore Therapy neurofeedback targets specific frequency bands associated with different mental states and functions, such as alpha waves for relaxation and focus or beta waves for alertness and cognitive function. By training the brain to produce more balanced patterns within these frequency bands, individuals can experience improvements in various cognitive functions, emotional regulation, and overall mental well-being.
Additionally, BrainCore Therapy neurofeedback promotes neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to reorganize and form new neural connections in response to experience. This allows the brain to adapt and rewire itself, leading to long-term changes in brainwave function and improved cognitive performance.
The number of sessions required for BrainCore neurofeedback treatment varies depending on the patient and the severity of the health condition. Similar to asking how long it will take one person to get in shape by going to the gym compared to another individual, it’s a personalized journey. Typically, a BrainCore visit package begins with 30 – 40 sessions. After every 10th or 15th session, a qEEG is performed to assess progress and determine if any adjustments to the protocol are necessary.
Each BrainCore Therapy neurofeedback session typically lasts for 30 minutes. While not mandatory, most BrainCore patients at Balance Atlanta also receive additional services to enhance their overall well-being. This may include a chiropractic adjustment to improve nerve system function, training in proper breathing techniques to manage stress effectively, and nutritional support for improved mental and physical health.
BrainCore Therapy neurofeedback patients typically receive three training sessions for 10-12 weeks for maximum effectiveness. After this initial phase, based on the results of the qEEG and the level of symptom improvement, a patient may choose to continue reinforcing neurofeedback with wellness-based sessions spread out over a more extended period.
Patients often begin to notice improvements within six to ten sessions of BrainCore Therapy neurofeedback, provided they adhere to the treatment plan protocol and support their body with proper nutrition and other healthful lifestyle efforts. Active participation in the healing process in collaboration with the doctor is also crucial for optimal results. In many cases, family members of BrainCore patients are the first to observe changes in the patient’s behavior and thought process, reduced reliance on medications, and improved sleep patterns.
However, specific negative influences can impact the success rate of BrainCore therapy. These may include factors such as improper diet, lack of exercise, dehydration, unhealthy personal relationships, work dissatisfaction, poor lifestyle habits, use of other prescription or non-prescription drugs, stressful life situations and trauma, changes in living situations and environment, and the chronicity of the condition being treated.
Long-term follow-up studies have demonstrated that neurofeedback’s improvements last up to 40 years. Because neurofeedback is also beneficial for peak performance, many clients continue with BrainCore sessions to optimize their results.
Since its development in the 1960s, neurofeedback has been extensively studied by research centers worldwide, demonstrating its efficacy for various neurologically-based challenges. Numerous published research studies supporting the effectiveness of neurofeedback can be accessed and downloaded from the BrainCore website: www.braincoretherapy.com.
