At Balance Atlanta, the emphasis is on corrective care, not short-sighted patch-up treatment. We support logical health solutions that improve your quality of life long-term.
Patients who get the best results are those who are fully committed to the process of correcting the underlying issues once and for all.
Based on your health history, the chiropractic exam, motion study x-rays, and wellness goals, Dr. Caroline will create a custom three-phase plan of action to restore proper spinal motion, flexibility, and strength utilizing the selection of modalities listed below, which are offered at Balance Atlanta.
Your path to health is specific, measurable, and results-driven.
It only makes sense.
Spinal Adjustment – Specific and gentle repositioning of vertebrae to restore spinal alignment; release pressure on pinched and irritated nerves; decrease pain, swelling, and inflammation; improve range of motion; stop progressive degeneration; prevent scar tissue from forming within muscles, tendons, ligaments; restore the nervous system to homeostasis; enhance a healthy response to stress.
Extremities Adjustment – Correction of the misalignments of the bones and joints peripheral to the spine, including the shoulders, arms, elbows, wrists, fingers, knees, ankles, feet, and toes, to maintain optimal motion and functionality.
Cranial Sacral Adjustment – Bodywork to decrease pressure on the bones of the skull, lower back, and spinal column; ease restrictions in the spinal column; increase movement of cerebral spinal fluid; nourish the spinal cord; promote lymphatic drainage; eliminate recurrent ear and sinus infections; enhance restorative sleep; regulate breathing; promote healthy elimination and detoxification; reduce inflammation following traumatic brain injury/concussion.
Manual Traction – A gentle controlled pulling motion with the hands on the spine, in particular the neck and lower back, to perform spinal decompression which creates space in between bones, discs and joints. The release of tension removes stress on the nerves; increases circulation; decreases pain; improves motion; and breaks up scar tissue.
Trigger Point Therapy – Release of inflamed pressure points in the muscles which refer dull or sharp pain to other parts of the body to eliminate stress from chronic injuries and to increase joint mobility.
Myofascial Release – Therapy utilizing hands or an instrument to reduce muscle, ligament and tendon constriction; break up scar tissue within the soft tissues; improve posture and balance; stimulate the stretch reflex; increase blood flow and oxygenation for faster healing.
Therapeutic Ultrasound – A procedure which increases local blood flow to help reduce local swelling and chronic inflammation and, according to some studies, promote bone fracture healing.
Activities of Daily Living – Specific instructions for becoming an expert in what you do every day (sleep, exercise, standing, bending, lifting, sitting, computer work, driving) to improve ergonomics; increase efficiency with less energy expenditure; minimize re-injury while the spine is less stable during the initial phase of corrective care.
Custom Exercise and Stretching – Given at a planned sequence during care in the form of videos, e-mails and handouts, these custom protocols address each client’s needs based on their particular challenges and goals throughout all stages of healing to increase circulation, elongate muscles, build strength, improve motion, promote spinal stability.
Cervical/Lumbar Traction Home Care – Passive physical therapy that is done by the patient at home using an orthopedic device specific to the cervical spine which is designed to create space between vertebrae and discs;reduce compression on the nerves; relieve tension in the neck and shoulders; lengthen supporting soft tissues; restore proper spinal curves for improved biomechanics; reduce progressive degeneration.
Neuromuscular Re-Education – Exercises taught to the patient as home care to retrain muscle memory and reset normal patterns of communication between the brain, spinal cord, nerves, ligaments and tendons that were damaged by injury, lifestyle and posture.
Postural Improvement – A system of movements that help your brain release postural habits that create tension and pain by replacing them with ones that align with the natural design of the body. Unlike yoga or Pilates, the focus is on micro movements and the relationship between your thinking and how the body responds.
Core Stability – Methods to strengthen the muscles that stabilize the hips, torso and shoulders to promote a neutral spine which spares the skeleton from excessive load; transfers forces from upper body to lower body and vice versa; reduces the likelihood of injury and progressive degeneration; improves balance and recovery.
Computerized Gait Analysis – Using technology, a visual and mechanical assessment of pressure and load on the feet, legs, knees, hips, torso, and shoulders. This is especially critical for those suffering from lower back dysfunction, such as golfers, runners, tennis players, and pregnant moms. Treatment recommendations are given to restore proper gait, mobility, and balance.
Orthotics – Custom shoe inserts to decrease postural imbalances; improve gait; reduce tension on the bones of the foot, arches, heels, and ankles; address mechanical issues leading to flat feet, plantar fasciitis, bunions, callouses, stress fractures, bone spurs, and shin splints.
Re-examinations – Periodic evaluations to determine measurable progress throughout all stages of the three phases. They provide the groundwork to tailor the process of correction as determined by the speed of healing, improved function, stabilization of biomechanics, and new goals set. The third re-exam will include digital progress x-rays.
Lifestyle – Weekly handouts of best practices for regulating gut health, restoring restful sleep, stress management, optimal nutrition, reducing inflammation, improving brain health, anti-aging protocols, and managing anxiety/depression.
Pregnant Moms and New Moms – Materials to support a healthy pregnancy and facilitate easier labor/delivery for both mom and baby; custom pre and post-natal stretches to maintain optimal balance, gait, and flexibility throughout all stages of pregnancy and beyond; advice on proper ergonomics for walking, exercising, bending, lifting, sleeping, nursing; articles by experts aligned with the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association on mind-body wellness for moms, bonding with baby, boosting the immune system, restoring the body to pre-baby health; nutrition to enhance energy and decrease inflammation/swelling. All newborns receive a complimentary chiropractic evaluation to assess spine and nervous system health following the birth process using techniques specific to pediatric chiropractic.
