“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.”

—John F. Kennedy

Professional athletes are adjusted to enhance peak performance.

Dr. Caroline began her career as one of two chiropractic consultants for the National Hockey League’s Atlanta Thrashers and for pros of visiting teams. You can only imagine the degree of spinal damage an NHL player sustains over the course of a career. For some, it was a matter of improving balance, coordination, and recovery time. For others, chiropractic adjustments were essential to managing injuries without drugs or surgery. In both cases, the emphasis was on optimal physical stamina.

Over the years, Dr. Caroline has cared for athletes associated with the WNBA, NFL, the Atlanta Ballet, NASCAR, and the PGA; stunt actors in the film industry whose careers depend on maintaining physical dexterity; Broadway performers, movie celebrities, and rock stars who must “work the stage” night after night without developing chronic health issues. The more that is at stake the greater the need for chiropractic.

At Balance Atlanta, young athletes receive regular chiropractic adjustments.

Their parents understand that proper growth and development depend on caring for the spine. Teen athletes experience peak performance with a clear nerve system: breathing is rhythmic, the mind is able to focus, joints are flexible, muscles are balanced, circulation is steady, and response time is quick. With the media spotlight on concussions, chiropractic care is now a necessity for anyone who recognizes the debilitating consequences of untreated spinal and neurological damage associated with contact sports.

Age and ability aside, Balance Atlanta’s practice members are extremely active. Health for the entire family is their #1 value. Chiropractic care is a natural component of a fitness-based lifestyle.

Our most senior patient, at 94, is an award-winning ballroom dancer. One of our youth athletes is an internationally ranked fencing champion. Dr. Caroline also cares for circus performers, Broadway actors, film stars, rock musicians, and others—people whose physical abilities determine career longevity.

Practice members who golf are either trying to improve their game or they’re nursing a spinal injury. Runners and cyclists benefit from chiropractic care by reducing the risk of plantar fasciitis, shin splits, knee damage, iliotibial syndrome, back pain, and inflammation.

Yoga, Pilates, and weight lifting enthusiasts enjoy chiropractic to enhance posture, flexibility, core strength, and symmetry.

Whether someone is a youth athlete training to win the next big game or a senior citizen who understands being active enhances mental performance, it makes sense that correcting spinal injuries and protecting the nerve system from damage with chiropractic adjustments is logical, cost-effective, and honors the body.

Adjustments are an integral part of a wellness lifestyle for anyone who works out.

As an athlete herself, Dr. Caroline understands the importance of chiropractic. She receives weekly adjustments for preventive wellness care.

In high school, Dr. Caroline was a competitive skier. At the age of 23, she rode her bicycle from Seattle to New York. Currently, she enjoys training for road races, hiking, resistance training, and kickboxing. Without a doubt, weekly adjustments for 25 years have afforded her the ability to be injury-free while physically active.

While there will always be the type of patients who seek treatment only while they are injured, others will do whatever they can to avoid the stress of being sidelined from participating in sports. They are adjusted on a proactive basis—chiropractic is a natural part of their workout regimen.

Whether you are a professional athlete, a weekend warrior, or somewhere in between, chiropractic is about maintaining an enjoyable quality of life where mind and body are on the same page.
